My Oma (grandmother) past away about four and a half years ago and just before she passed away she gave me this fabric. It was the last thing she ever gave me. I have been racking my brain for years four and a half to be exact on what to do with it. I wanted to design something my Oma would love.
I finaly had the design. It was a bit vintage but still modern.
Because of my emotional attachment to the fabric the first cut when cutting the fabric out was a bit difficult. I was thinking "Are you sure this is the design? After you cut out the pattern you are committed. Your Oma will never give you fabric again. Are you sure this is what you want to do with it?"
When I finished the top I realized that there was possibly enough fabric left for a pair of shorts. I quickly designed the pattern for the shorts and laid it out on the remaining fabric. The pattern edge lined up with the end of my fabric. I have never had a pattern fit so snug into the bit of fabric I had left. There was barely even scraps of fabric left. Lucky me.
I wanted to share this to commemorate my Oma's birthday. Happy Birthday Oma.
